To love the Lord our God is to worship and adore Him with all our hearts and through our lives, our voices, and song. Since the early Bible days, the psalmists expressed their praise and worship to God through music. They wrote worship songs unto Him for all to sing. David encouraged the people to….
Today we continue in that same tradition. We give God our praise and worship as we make melody in our hearts, sing new worship songs to Him, and play our instruments with skill.
Worship songs help us to get our focus on the Lord. We think about who He is—all-powerful, all-loving, almighty. Cares of this world begin to fade because we know that God is in control. We do not feel alone anymore because we know He is near. Insecurities subside because we remember how much He loves us. Confusion lifts because He sheds light. Fear loses its grip because we are safe with Him.
Give thanks to the Lord with harps, sing to Him with stringed instruments. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. Psalm 33:2-3 (GNT, NIV)
Worship songs quiet our spirits and encourage our souls. They usher us into His beautiful presence where we know love and experience peace that passes understanding. One of the greatest worship leaders of all time, Johann Sebastian Bach, who devoted his life to writing worship songs for the Lord that we continue to enjoy and experience today, once said,
Where there is devotional music, God is always at hand with His gracious presence.
He was also quoted to say,
The aim and final reason of all music should be none else but the glory of God. ~Johann Sebastian Bach
Whether it is choral music, instrumental, or contemporary, true worship songs come from the heart.
It seems most natural for Jeff and Krystal to express their innermost
love and devotion to God through worship songs. You will find they
have a large and growing collection of praise and worship songs such as Holy Lamb of Godwhich was inspired by God’s amazing love after Krystal saw The Passion and You Will Make a Waywhich was inspired when a friend lost his job. Both songs look to God as the One to worship as Savior, Helper, Provider, Healer.... He is worthy of all our praise and worship!!
